During these six weeks of exploratory working, which includes the two weeks of museum research, creating posters, reviewing and Harvard referencing our reviews as well as the four weeks that we spent trying the four different pathways, I believe that I have truly expanded my knowledge of the world of Art and Design and I have gained knowledge about the world of Media.
I really enjoy trying new things therefore I loved trying out the four different pathways, especially graphics and fashion as the activities we took part in were different and new however it still incooperated what I truly loved which is drawing.
I was not surprised that I found the fast paced working environment during this exploratory working stage quite difficult as I found myself having to come up with ideas a lot quicker than when I did during A-levels and ended up doing work nearly every night, however it gave me a sense of how it is to work in the real world of Design and Media, with all the fast paced and quick projects that artists and designers need to complete in order to please their clients. Therefore I am glad that I was able to experience this fast paced environment.
However, overall I am quite proud of the quantity and quality of work that I have produced during these six weeks, as I believe all of my projects were successful.

On the final day of the fashion and textiles pathway we were asked to make our garment which we designed during the second day.
I decided to make a neck piece therefore the first thing that I needed to make was the strap that would go around the neck that held the whole piece in place.
I then had to make the petals and leaves that would be attached to the neck strap. My piece was influenced by nature therefore the colours that I chose for the petals and leaves were also influenced by the idea of nature as I chose the not-so-typical brown colour for the leaves as it still had the idea of nature surrounding it and I painted the leaves pink with a gradient effect as I didn't want the strong brown colour to clash with another strong colour such as a solid pink, so I believe the gradient effect on the pink softened the overall look of the neck piece.
We were then asked to pair up with someone who was willing to model our garment and go around the building taking pictures of our model modelling our work.

On the second day of the fashion and textiles pathway we had to make garments for models in magazines by manipulating paper.
I again used techniques such as pleating and plaiting as well as weaving and using cones for a spike effect.
We were then asked to come up with six designs for a garment of our choice. I decided to focus on the neck area and make a piece that can be worn around the neck.
I quite enjoyed working on the project as playing with and manipulating paper was still new to me, however I did struggle with the fast paced environment during this day but I did overcome it and I thankfully finished all that I needed to on time.

During the morning of the first day of the fashion and textiles pathway we were asked to manipulate paper and make different patterns and shapes that we are able to attach to a garment or actually make a garment out of it.
I therefore proceeded to make patterns out of plaits, pleats, cut outs as well as cones to give the effect of spikes. After we made small samples of our patterns, we then had to choose a pattern we liked and had to make 20 of the same pattern in a variety of larger scales.
We were then paired up with individuals from our group and were moved to mannequins which had the work of other people on them and then we were asked to make a garment with the materials and patterns that we provided.
The following pictures are of what me and my partner created.
After we experimented and created different kinds of weird and wonderful garments using our manipulated paper, our partners and us then went back to our own mannequin and had to make a garment out of our own manipulated. My partner and I decided to try and make a blazer out of our combined manipulated paper and the result is pictured below.
I believe our final and experimental garments were all a success because my partner and I worked well as we communicated well together by sharing our ideas and helped each other when we came across a problem at any point.
