After Christmas break, we had to do a "Wayfinding and Mapping" project, therefore during my Christmas break I explored different location which I would have possibly liked to do for this project.

The two location that I finally tried to decide between were Bullring Shopping Centre and Edgbaston reservoir, both in Birmingham as that is where I spent my Christmas holiday. I finally decided that Bullring Shopping Centre, being 1,349,000 square feet, was a little difficult to do for a one week project and so began doing my project on Edgbaston reservoir.

The picture above is the original map of the reservoir which is placed at two of the four entrances to the reservoir. After looking at the picture carefully I decided to recreate the reservoirs map as the current map seemed to be quite old and unappealing.

I tried to come up with different ideas for this wayfinding and mapping project, some of which include and handout leaflet, or a laminated booklet.

I also researched the location further online and tried to find interesting facts to include in the final piece of this project, as I wanted my end product to be as informative as possible. I then went on to make a handmade collage-like version of the map using paper and placed it together like how I hoped my final piece would roughly look like.

I then went on to use photoshop to edit my design and then use indesign to add the text onto the design as well. I went for a dark outline of the map to allow the audience to solely focus on the map and the information on the map itself, which explains why I went for fairly light coloured information boxes.
